When it came time to pick the one and only physique photographer to appear in Genius Week, I had to stop and think. I finally decided on Dave Martin of San Francisco because of several reasons. First, his work is amazingly diverse with an incredible range of styles covering studio work and a broad range of natural settings. Then there is his model pool. Perhaps best known for his shots of college athletes, he also photographed firemen, policemen, artists, members of the arme forces, and even a few of the "usual suspect" street types. We start with an unusually posed unknown.
Honorable mention goes to Pat Milo, Bruce Bellas, and Denny Denfield.
Splendid male, despite the pose.
ReplyDeleteYou might call that the "vhs tape stuck in the machine" pose... in keeping with the vintage theme
ReplyDeleteLOL! VHS came along about two decades after this photo was made, but I like the way you think.
DeleteThank you. You are someone whose appreciation is something I appreciate!
DeleteIt is a unusual pose but somehow it works. It shows off his handsome profile as well as those beautiful legs.
ReplyDeleteYes, it really does work, and that's part of Dave Martin's genius.
DeleteI rather like the pose. All those angular elements work together very nicely.
ReplyDeleteThey do work, even if counterintuitively.
