If you read the Alexander Jensen Yow section of the Lincoln Kirstein series, you know he had a successful career as an art conservator and restorer after dabbling in photography.  Based on today's nudes and this additional portrait of Cecil Beaton, I think he would have had a great career as a photographer, but he made a great mark for himself in his chosen field.
