Two different reputable vintage resale websites say this is Jensen Yow in a PaJaMa photo from the late 1940s at Fire Island. It looks like Jack Fontan to me, however, and it might be another example of a picture taken by Jens mistakenly labeled as of him. Adding to my opinion is the fact that Jens was spending a lot of time in those days with the PaJaMa folks through his relationship wth Lincoln Kirstein. If anyone has any information or even an opinion, please comment.
I have a few photos of Jack in my collection and I would say for certain it is him. No question about it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know that no one is perfect, but lately I've seen several well regarded auction and resale sights get hefty sums for works that are mislabeled.
