Leftovers from Larry III

It's time for another series of odds and ends left over from posts featuring images sent to me by Larry K.  (Larry has a great blog, and there's a link in today's last post.)  We start with the first of at least two boxers in the set, Assane Diouf, a Senegalese who fought in France 1935-47.

Le Sénégal, la Côte d’Ivoire et le Cameroun abritent de beaux hommes comme Assane Diouf :)
Diouf was born in Conakry of Guinean origin and raised in Sénégal.
He was taken as prisoner in the battle for France in 1940 and released. He continued to box during the occupation and became a boxing trainer after the war. He survived the occupation due to his popularity in France. He was known for his sleek style and elegant manner in and out of the box ring. You can see him in the film Coup de tête. :)
