1965

I recall reading somewhere that David Hockney was so impressed by the sheer number of swimming pools he saw on his first visit to LA that he went into a series of pool themed paintings.  This one is from 1965, probably one of the earliest, but I'm not sure.

  1. When the British Invasion occurred in the 1960’s many of the music groups came back with stories of America. They talked about America’s cities with their wide boulevards, big cars, high rise buildings, big houses and great food in big portions ! America was like a dream come to life for them, and they spoke mostly about Los Angeles with its palm trees, movie stars and swimming pools.
Funny how we Brits yearned for a trip to America, and you Yanks yearned for a trip to swinging London in the 1960’s. 🇬🇧
