Weightlifting Photos from Way Back
Our Sunday theme is selections from my oldest weightlifting photos.
This Igout number from the 1870's is the oldest of the lot,
and even though he isn't lifting, there's a dumbbell on the floor
I always enjoy seeing old full-frontal photographs of nude men. I don't know who was able to see them, but SOMEBODY would have had the pleasure of seeing them. If they ever put on live demonstrations with them nude, I'm sure that would have some eager audience members.
The reason given for making the great majority of very old male nude photos was their use as studies for artists who couldn't afford the cost of hiring life models for hours on end. Having said that, I am also quite positive that more than a few of them were purchased for pure personal enjoyment.
