This 1910 image (with two details) was made at the Egorov Bathhouse in St. Petersburg.
Most of you have probably seen the main image before, but the details could add interest.
You have shown similar bathhouse photos from the 80's and 90's but they were all from porn movies. I keep asking myself who are the masseuses/attendants and who are the clients. Could this be a bro helping out a bro type of thing? I'm not familiar with bathhouse etiquette in any decade or century.
The top photo with the fellow washing a man laying down, really shows him paying special attention to the most important parts. This is definitely a man with the same priorities that I have.

ReplyDeleteThe concept of "banya" is deeply embedded in Russian culture and there are traditions and protocols. Google it, and you'll see.
