 Here’s a photo of Munch painting on the beach at Warnemünde in 1907.  Behind him is the enormous canvas that he’s working on, and if you look closely, you can see that it’s the painting that we just saw, “Men on the Beach.”  In the background is one of his nude models.  Munch was working nude, too, but someone censored the photo.

  2. With a bit of tweaking and judicious rigging that painting could have become a very impressive kite. I wonder, did it ever get knocked down by the wind. Is there to this day particles of sand flaking off the canvas onto the museum floor?
