  1. Whenever I encounter the surname, "Marino," I think of NFL legend, Dan Marino. Now, Dan has some competition in my imagination.

    2. When did Lon of NY stop actively photographing male physique models? Was there some event like his arrest that caused Lon to cease working? Is it true that LON'S work was all done during the "Posing strap" era and he had quit before the liberalization of 1968-69?

    3. Alonzo Hanagan, aka Lon of New York, stopped doing physique photography in the early 1960s, likely 1962 or 1963. He returned to his previous career as a music teacher after having been arrested at least twice and forced into psychiatric treatment to avoid prison on the second of those occasions. He did not return to his photographic work after liberalization. Mr. Hanagan died in 1999 at age 87.

    4. That is a real shame. The Wikipedia article on Alonzo Hanagan has no mention of his arrests or forced psychiatric treatment. But Wikipedia says "Most of Lon of New York works were considered too "dirty" to be included in public collections during his career." It seems wrong to have an article that never mentions the police harassment LON faced or his 2 arrests. Wikipedia makes it seem LON decided to become inactive in Photography with no pressure or harassment from law enforcement when that is not accurate. I hope that gets corrected its just plain wrong.!!

  2. This must be the same Bruno Marino who was in the 1965 KRIS of Chicago short film "THE GUARD".? Bruno played the Corrections Officer and the cast included Cherokee (aka Everett Lee Jackson), Jerry James and Jay Reed as Prisoners. What is known about Bruno Marino and who did he pose for?
