This group of five Andaman Island males was taken by the notorious Maurice Vidal Portman around 1880. Portman was a British colonial official who photographed the Andamanese in everything from fairly legitimate academic poses to homoerotic fantasies to Medieval re-enactments. The photo above successfully illustrates a wide variety of body painting styles.
