After his touring and stage show days were over, Sandow continued to operate a London gym as well as publishing books on health and fitness. This photo comparison is from "The Life of the Author as Told in Photographs" which Sandow published as a retrospective compilation of photos fairly late in his life. I can't find a date for it, but the latest photos in it look like he was in his 40s, fwiw.
