That is quite literally one of those "faces" I remember from the great long ago. But Mr Addison was most certainly more than just a pretty face. I can't remember for the life of me where I must have seen this photo - and perhaps others - but it is fair to assume Alonzo Hanagan's work was of such quality, this and other studies would have been liberally reproduced.
Yes, Lon Hanagan deserved his success. He made enough money doing "legitimate" magazine and publicity photos, that he didn't really need to take the risk of distributing frontal nudes. (One measure of that success was the fact that he was able to move into Mae West's Manhattan apartment when she gave it up.) I think he did the full on nude work because he loved artistically presenting the entire male body.
