Dale H. from Odessa, Texas wrote in and asked me to do a series of my top 20
American classic era physique photographers. I said, "How about top ten?" We
compromised on the top 12. (Yes, I'm a tough negotiator.) They will be presented
in alphabetical order so as not to imply that some are better than others, even though
they may be. We start with a color photo by AMG's Bob Mizer of Rick Early.
Oh, I almost forgot. The Europeans will appear in a few days.
The lighting brings out the male's body very well here. And I like the comfortable casualness of the pose.
ReplyDeleteThis may be my favorite Mizer color shot.
DeleteFrom the hairstyle, I hazard this was taken in anticipation of full frontal legalization and circulated later. Bob Mizer takes full advantage of it with this pose. I am now trying to identify which battle ship had garden furniture on the poop deck.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your dating of the photo. Mizer's later color work, imo, tended to be more lurid in terms of both color saturation and theme.
