Whitby II - Coxswain Langlands and Crew 1914


In October of 1914 the hospital ship Rohilla broke up in a storm off Whitby, Yorkshire.  
At the age of 61, the previously decorated Coxswain Thomas Langlands led the men shown 
above in a heroic and dangerous mission that rescued about half of the 150 persons on board.  
He was decorated a second time and  is shown below with his medals:
