Jon Foto
I believe I've previously posted this duo from 1960 as unknown. Thanks to Bryan, I now
know that they are Vic and Karl Vandewalker by an outfit called Jon Foto. Brothers?
The hair styles make me think of Edd Byrnes on 77 Sunset Strip.
Sure. My family almost never watched it, but it was a sort of popular culture icon. There was even a pop song about it. See comment and my response below.
That was one of my favorite shows. I can't remember for sure, but was the phrase 'Kooky, Kooky, lend me your comb' associated with that show? Well, anyway, I always like two fellows being naked together. If the show had something like this, it really would have been a 'never-miss' TV program!
The online Archive of California indicates that Vic and Karl Vandewalker posed for Can-Art in 1960 in Canada. Frank Borck was a Photgrapher for Can-Art and took it over in 1964. Frank Borck founded B.D.R. to sell the photos of Nude Models from Can-Art. They had an office in Toronto and an Office in Buffalo New York.To avoid customs issues for USA customers orders were shipped from the Buffalo Office. In addition to Can-Art and B.D.R. Borck also operasted under the name of Borck Enterprises. If the Vandewalkers posed in 1960 most likely they were Canadians and posed for Can-Art on Toronto. B.D.R. (Toronto, Canada; Buffalo, New York) 1965-1968 Physical Description: 319 photographic prints. Historical Note: The studio was operated by Frank Borck from November 1965 to 1968. Prior to late-1964, Borck was a photographer for Can-Art, another Toronto-based studio that provided physique photographs to magazines. In late-1964, Borck took over Can-Art and in November 1965, Borck founded B.D.R. to sell nude photographs of the models from Can-Art studios. To avoid customs issues for their customers in the United States, orders were shipped from an office in Buffalo, New York. In addition to Can-Art and B.D.R., Borck also operated under the name Borck Enterprises. Images include the following models: Billy Young, Davis Danby, Vic and Karl Vandewalker, Elmer and Neil, Elmer Downy, Billy.
Wow, Jerry. 77 Sunset Strip...are we dating ourselves or what?

ReplyDeleteYour quote was the main line of a pop song by Connie Stevens with Edd Byrnes doing some spoken lines.
DeleteI have 2 other photos from this shoot (and 2 more of Karl solo). Would you like 'em, Jerry?
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I'm pretty sure I have them.
DeleteThe picture suggest "kissing cousins" rather than brothers. ;)
