A short gay history of Fire Island in photos

Well, it's late May and all you folks in the Northern Temperate Zone will soon be flocking to the beaches.  (We don't have such limitations here in Hawaii, thank goodness.)  I thought it might be
timely to take a look at one of the most iconic spots in Gay History, Fire Island.  We start with a handsome Life Saving Service man from around 1900.  He could throw me a rope any day.

  1. So cute. A man with a pullover, a tache and a rope. Here in London, the gorgeous long days are with us again.

    1. I'll never forget my first visit to the Outer Hebrides which was on the Summer Solstice. We went outside at 23:00 and could still read by the evening twilight . . . and then it started to snow.
