A few weeks ago Larry K. (owner of https://unashamedmale.blogspot.com/ ) contacted me with an offer I couldn't refuse. A generous donor who prefers to be credited only as "a friend from San Francisco" sent Larry some file folders containing hundreds of photos of what I believe to be Estonian military recruits from the interwar years. They were photographed from the front, rear, and side in pairs. I made the composites I'm posting today, and if you click them, a larger version will appear in a new page. My thanks go to Larry and our friend in San Francisco for their generosity.
It's fun and fine, but what did they use these pictures for?
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of a mystery, but our best guess is some sort of health related survey. The similar (and notorious) Ivy League photos were supposedly posture studies.
DeleteFascinating, photographed as pairs. I assume, chosen as an economical way to use the film?
ReplyDeleteYes, David, I think economy was the reason.
