Another German
M. Krone took the final photo in today's series, a young
German male who seems to be standing at attention.
I think the type at the bottom says H. Krone and I'm guessing that's Hermann Krone, a German photographer known for his landscape photographs of Switzerland -- although he took many other types of photos (including self-portraits) in his native Saxony. Krone opened his first studio in 1852. He died in 1916 at the age of 89. I suspect this studio photo is from the mid to late 1800s making this (in my mind) a truly remarkable and noteworthy photo.
The background contrast is cool...and the model is clearly visible against both the black and the grey backgrounds...cool.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a very nice arrangement.

ReplyDeleteThanks, James! I need to research Herr Krone now.
