In the period after World War I, men's bathing suits went sleeveless for the most part, and the singlet, or onesie, became the standard for almost 20 years. The men above are wearing some standard styles, while the ones below display a hodge podge. The boy's suit is positively 19th Century, while the men are more modern. The lifeguard, who was probably hired because everyone knew he would float, is wearing a two piece type I've seen on lifeguards before ;
