Our only color picture of the day is of Stan Lane and Steve Kiern. I don't know why they are
wearing only towels on what appears to be a construction site. My source only said that this was
part of a series of "gag" promotional photos that the Memphis area pair made around 1980.
This is a bit of relief from those stupid trunks they wore back then. Too bad they weren't stripped.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who was a grunt level worker for one of the regional wrestiling outfits in the 80s. He said that some of the wrestlers chose their trunks to show off bulges and some even used cock rings to make them more pronounced. When I asked if such showing off was for the women or men in the audience, he said it was for both. He also said, "Almost nobody stuffs socks down there any more. Too obvious and too easy to come loose in the ring."
DeleteFor men the wrestling trunks are still better than the ladies' bloomers that boxers, basketball players, and surf board riders wear in modern times.

DeleteIn the 1980's many times live regional wrestling venues, featured at least one 'dick show'.
ReplyDeleteA good guy'd be trying to tag in and a bad guy would pants him, the close side got buttocks but far side seats got a dick flash.
They'd also grab the front of the suit, and yank, often to a peter-pop-out.
They claimed, "sorry, things happen live."
Of course cameras were very rare in those days.
LOL! I was in the deep South at the time, so we only got the occasional rump view on the pants pulldown.
