Marilyn and Friend

I don't know how Marilyn Monroe ended up at a cowboy beard growing contest,
but there she is.  In my world, she is clearly upstaged by the handsome guy
with the beautiful beard.  I'm guessing he won, by the way.

  1. I love Marilyn Monroe, but my eyes immediately went to this handsome fellow. It took me several moments to realize that the goddess was even in the photo.

    1. At least this guy doesn't look like a scared rabbit.

  2. That happened through her friend Jeanne Carmen, who was a bit of a rodeo sharp shooter....

    1. Thanks for that. I've seen many of the Jeanne Carmen interviews, and she had some real insight into Marilyn's troubled life.

    2. It is interesting to note that of a lot of what Jeanne Carmen has said has been debunked by many in Marilyn's inner circle. Pat Newcomb has said on the record that Marilyn hardly knew her.

    3. There are mixed opinions about the truth of Jeanne Carmen's statements regarding Marilyn. Some say they never even met, some say they were close, and some say they knew each other, but Jeanne exaggerated their closeness. (The last of these three is my own current opinion.) The most damning thing against Ms. Carmen's claims is the lack of a single photo of the two together. On the other hand, Tony Curtis, who knew them both, described them as friends in his memoir and noted that they avoided photographers.

    4. I will agree with that, it gave Jeanne her 15 Minutes for the next 30 plus years whenever there was a special on MM. It reminds me of all who "claimed" to be invited to the Sharon Tate house on the night of the murders. You can work that 15 for life.

  3. Why a man is holding Marilyn's left arm?

    1. Good question. I suspect he may have been "steadying" her in his mind, but it was probably just an excuse to touch her.

  4. What would I do here? Ask for Marilyn's autograph and then ask him out.
