This is the first of two photos in today's set by Stanley Stellar, an excellent
photographer whose work will appear here again in the future.
I've always liked Stellar's work. He captured what now looks like that innocent period of time before the plague (1976 - 1982). Little did we know what was coming.
I had only a vague recollection of having heard of him when I put this set together, but that quickly became deep admiration. Some of his G-rated work captures the era even better than the Pier photos.
This particular pic especially captivates me. I grew up in Jersey City in the 60s and 70s, a 10- or 15-minute ride to the piers on the PATH train. I was not a part of such scenes, but several of my friends were. Oh, the stories they have!! Thx for an excellent series. I look forward to more of these photographers' works.

DeleteStanley is also a lovely man, I have known him for years because of Leslie-Lohman!!!
DeleteLucky you, brine!
