Genius Week, Day 5 - Arthur Tress

When it came time to pick a genius photographer who was most active in the last third of the 20th Century, I had to think a long time  before choosing Arthur Tress, born 1940.  Other candidates included Andy Warhol (too much manufactured celebrity) and Robert Mapplethorpe (too much controversy just for the sake of being controversial), along with Roy Blakey, Roy Dean, and Bruce Weber, all three of whom are great photographers, but lacking a certain period edginess.  So I went with Mr. Tress whom I like to describe as Salvador Dali meets Jim French of Colt.

  1. Long time fan of his. An amazing photographer and person.
Used to have Band Aid Fantasy and a surreal hockey player hanging in my home. And was lucky enough to hear him speak.
