Pat Rocco and SPREE sponsored Frank Vel's walk of the entire State of California to protest the Briggs Initiative, a ballot proposal that would have put anti-gay bigotry into law. Initially, the measure seemed destined to win, but activism and thousands of gays coming out to friends and family turned the tide. Even Ronald Reagan jumped on the anti-Briggs bandwagon at the last minute.
