Doug Juleff did quite a few magazine covers as well as photos to accompany articles inside them. He also did publicity and portfolio G-rated shots for bodybuilders. If he had just stuck to that, he probably wouldn't have ended up in jail, but it might not have paid all his bills.
He did amazing work and was being true to himself but Detroit in the 50’s wasn’t having it unfortunately and he got treating really badly by the police and justice system. Luckily we have these images and you to share them with us.
ReplyDeleteDetroit was so repressive at the time that the police even persecuted some of the models, something very rare elsewhere.
