The Athletes - Emile Gontier

The most frequently seen single type of photo that I recently found in a Paul Richer archive was a huge group of 1900 era athletes, mostly nude, from three angles - front, side, and rear.  I'm presention only one today, and he is French Olympic track and field star Emile Gontier.  The archive presented most of these men with the three views shown both separately and as a composite.  I'm posting Mr. Gontier's set both ways for two reasons.  First, I think the separates may show up and enlarge better on some devices, and secondly, I'd like viewer feedback on how I should do future sets.  I'll start with the composite followed by the separates.  Please let me know what you think.

  1. I've never been attracted to these kinds of expressionless photos, but I still prefer them separately.

    1. Thanks for sharing your opinion, Albert. I agree about the expressions (or lack of them), but I do find the photos historically interesting. FWIW, a few of them manage to display some smiles now and then.

  2. Either is fine, but I prefer the separate photos. And I'm excited that he was in the 1900 Paris Olympics, so I could use him in my Olympics series in my blog (I've already covered the 1900 Olympics, but I may go back later and re-do athletes whom I missed on my first pass). -Larry

  3. Cute face and a nice body, I'm sure when he did smile it was just as nice.
