Yves Paradis
Our final selection from Galerie au Bonheur is by Yves Paradis from 1988.
This is my favorite photo, despite the frozen appearance of the model, I notice in him a rebellious spirit, and even very provocative in his expression. He seems to tell us: "I am the most beautiful and I am the one who will choose who will be my partner for the night."
I loved seeing this! I have only been the once and it was a magical experience. Fortunately, a friend who's French is better then mine was able to get us an appointment during the time we were there. Like the bookstore Shakespeare And Company it is an outing you will never forget.
I am leaving for the UK at the end of September and a couple of days in Paris would be nice if time permits. Plus, this time I am travelling with someone who loves places like this and takes their time to explore!
The ancient and the new, Hermes and a youth. When in Paris a visit to Galerie au Bonheur du Jour is a must. Nicole Canet who presides over GaB publishes books on erotic photography of the past which can be purchased at their website and internet booksellers….:)
Chiming in a bit late here so not sure if you will notice my comment. I was living in France last year and ended my sojourn with a visit to Paris. I was really looking forward to a visit to this Gallery and possibly buying a souvenir. Unfortunately the owner was having a very, very, very bad day and all but escorted me out of the gallery and locked the door. I was quite disappointed. Huston

ReplyDeleteYes, he does have "attitude," and he knows how to use it.

ReplyDeleteI keep saying I need to go back to Paris . . .

DeleteGood for you! No way I can get that far until next year.

ReplyDeleteI don't care how bad his day was, that is inexcusable.
