Georg Kolbe - 1947

The Beethoven Memorial above debuted during the last year of German sculptor
Georg Kolbe's life.  The Nazis expropriated some of his work for their movement,
and he also did some commissions for them.  He did not, howver, join the party,
and emerged from the war with his reputation mostly intact.  And yes, it does
seem a bit odd to portray Beethoven in the nude, but he got away with it.

  1. Never knew Beethoven had a great physique, no doubt Kolbe took liberties….:)
