Butler Coleman
An abandoned quarry used as a swimming hole was the site of more than a few of James E. Davis' male nude photos. The model here is Butler Coleman from 1969, and he seems a bit out of focus.
I'm curious about the lack of focus; if I may ask, do you, VM, have ways to determine whether here, for example, it's intentional or accidental? A soft focus can certainly imbue an image with a romantic or nostalgic aura... I suppose in the end all that matters is that the photo "works". I think it works here, but I'm not confident that it was deliberate. And often when it's blurry it just makes my eyes water.
This male is really handsome. The setting is unique, too.
ReplyDeleteI also like the off-center composition.

DeleteI wish I knew if this was deliberate or otherwise, but either way, I agree with your opinion that it's a beautiful photograph.
