John Macallan Swan (1847-1910) did The Gladiators in charcoal on paper. It looks as though
it was a study or sketch for a more finished work, but even the Tate Museum which owns it
hasn't been able to find any. Too bad. I'd have loved to see the finished product.
Wow. You've got to love a group nude.... It looks like it was drawn in at least three sections. Dare I hope that he used multiple models? Inspiring...
