All my source knew about this one was that they were soldiers having fun.
I have seen a whole series of Australian soldiers from WWII diving into what was either a river or a quarry that seems to fit this image. If I remember correctly, it was somewhere near Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. I presume they were at a training camp as whatever theatre they fought in was necessarily overseas. They look as if they're having fun. Perhaps they got a lift in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert!
One of my absolute favourites of all time. Brilliantly written with that particular dry, acerbic Australian wit without which the world would be a poorer place. I cannot fault any of the performances, but Terence Stamp was out of this world as Bernadette.
