In 1955 Aldo Ray starred in the charming almost black comedy We're No Angels, playing Albert,
a simple minded escapee from Devil's Island who killed people with a tiny snake he carried
around in a little basket. His co-stars were Humphrey Bogart and Peter Ustinov.
Our last photo in this first Aldo Ray series shows him in a sultry pose from Angels.
He was a symbol of All-American Manhood. What more can I say? Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Very, very likeable guy!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, vv! If you look at his interviews, he really comes across as a nice guy.
DeleteThank you for the tribute to Aldo.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!
DeleteThis was a pleasure to see! I have been a fan of his for many years, and not just for his looks. Lol. I think he was a damn good actor when given the right material. A complete natural. Thanks Jerry, I enjoyed this immensely!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Pat, and I agree with your opinion on the man.
DeleteI imagine that he would brighten up everyone whenever he appeared. He was hands on, probably a very good sport if he wasn't to become an actor. Check how he makes the table, throwing, tossing plates. He was always excellent in serving off a true prick. In We're No Angels it's this arrogant nephew - who quickly dies too, much to the relief of everyone. Ustinov is great too.
ReplyDeleteA truly fine ensemble cast.
