And, as promised, we end the set with our second model of the series holding a staff in a studio.
I'm sure you can all guess what tomorrow's topic will be.

  1. Isn't there a school of thought that would subconsciously consider the staff a symbol of a hard cock? Could that be the reason it appears so often in male art?

    1. More than one psychologist has been fixated on phallic symbology of that sort, but even one of them (Freud) once said, "Sometime a cigar is just a cigar." Of course he was puffng on one at the time.

  2. Absolutely, along with swords, arrows, and other cylindrical objects that "pierce." Some of the auto hood ornaments of decades past were intensely phallic, like the Buick with the elongated cylindrical object piercing a circle. The circle was a yonic symbol, a representation of female genitalia.

    1. A brilliant archaeology professor once told my class of how his team was excavatng in Turkey and found over a dozen huge erect stone penises 4 to 6 meters tall buried in a valley. Of course they got very excited, postulating for over a week on various types of Neolithic male fertility cults. Then they realized that they were natural formations covered by a landslide.
