Segue Week, Day 2 - Selfies II
The nude self portrait of Richard Gerstl I posted yesterday inspired todays series of self portraits for day two of Segue Week. We start by going way, way back for this one by Albrecht Durer from 1505.
Stunningly beautiful, and always so moving to see. One assumes, an honest drawing by the artist. A surprisingly mature 34-year-old. I love the way everything "hangs".
Quite extraordinary. I once had a series of postcards of his watercolors but it's his drawings and prints that are stunning. The detail is amazing.
