I was overjoyed to find these two photos in the Getty collection because I had previously posted them both with no provenance other than the obvious 19th Centuiry dating. I was hoping for a photographer's name, but it turned out that even the expert curators at Getty couldn't track one down. Oh well, sometimes we just have to enjoy without knowing as much as we might like.
Here are a few more photos that I will use as inspiration for my drawings! Thanks Jerry.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me happy to inspire you, Albert!
DeleteDas erste Modell hat definierte Bauchmuskeln. Vielleicht aus England oder Frankreich. Das zweite Modell sieht italienische aus.
ReplyDeleteExzellent Serie 1 und 2, von Ihnen kuratiert.:)
DeleteViele Danke!
DeleteI have not seen these before, just stunning! My favorites for today. The series today was most enjoyable, thanks Jerry for the work you put into it!
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure, Pat.
DeleteThe 'head stands' support the early dates.
ReplyDeleteIron brace to hold head still during long exposures [wet plate/daugerrotype era.]
These could be circus performers as they were know to seek side-hustles...a local photog may have dangled a carrot, for them to dangle a carrot.
That's one circus I would have paid extra to see.
