Quite a few photographers from Werner Bandi's era shunned color work as "unartistic,"
but Werner used it with moderationa and to good effect as with this shot of Bob by a lake.
Interesting how photographers shunned color in the same way erections and sometimes male nudity in general are shunned by filmmakers today.
(Then there are things like Stephen Dorff's semi that I celebrate just for how the director first showed him fully aroused and negotiated down to what he really wanted.)

At some point "restraint" becomes self-censorship. As your example indicates, it gets complicated.
