Nudists were always having to prove that their gatherings were more than just an
opportunity to ogle (and let's get real, to lust after) all those naked bodies. So we
often find images of them cooking, reading books, engaging in sports, and in this case,
staging an art show. I have three other photos of this show, plus a couple of others.
It will come as no surprise to you that all the pictures were of, you guessed it, naked people.
That female finger is pointing right at that thick, uncut membrum virilum. Must have been quite a show!
ReplyDeleteBeing a nudist, truly has nothing to do with sex. We really do gather for normal, everyday things. Do we all "look?" Of course. Everybody does, nudist or not, when in a situation with other naked people. It's natural curiosity to "size up" the competition. Do sexual things ever happen? Of course. LOL
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that some old time nudists were not happy when their movement became popular with swingers in the 1970's. That was just one article, though.
DeleteThe real question is why the somewhat anti-make behviors. Like when I was a teenager, we swam naked, even wrestled naked. Erections were only somewhat of a concern. (In Lakota culture, even if you're expected to be naked otherwise, such as a sweat lodge, the head has to be covered in the name of decorum. Binding the penis also symbolizes chastity.) We still knew not every erection was a sex thing.
DeleteAnd of course, the enforced sex ratio always seemed intended to titillate.
Membrum virile.
DeleteOops. My Latin is not what it used to be. Thanks for catching that.
DeleteNot happy, indeed. We didn't want what happened to happen. Nudists became thought of as disgusting group sex addicts. I'm really pleased that the nudist - now called "naturist" - movement is regaining the reputation of its original intent. 😊
DeleteThe gentleman's ... thickness down there makes this one of my favorite vintage images.
