For some reason I can't figure out, this photo and the kilted soldier series it came from was
attributed by my source solely to Basil Clavering rather than to Royale or Hussar Studio.

  1. "That's NOT how you secure a kilt, laddie." 😁

    1. I don't know which regimental tartan that is, but it looks the real McCoy. I never realized Andy Stewart had such well-cooked buns.

    2. As the proud owner of an Edinburgh made kilt, I can tell you that the real ones are marvels of garment construction. Mine clearly shows the Clan tartan in the back through a couple dozen pleats. Can't tell if this one does due to the angle, though.

  2. I dream of having a kilt. The problem is, I won't have much opportunity to wear it. I find it really beautiful when it's a real tartan !!!

    1. I don't wear mine that often, Albert, but when I do, I get lots of compliments. The Scots were one of the first outside groups to settle in Hawaii by invitation, and several of them were advisors to the early Kings.

    2. Fun picture. It reminds me of the old joke. Is anything worn under the kilt? No, it's all in perfect working order!

    3. People ask me that sometimes, and if they're good looking men, I tell them to look for themselves.
