Got my first Pfizer jab today

Although it wasn't nearly as much fun as this photo, I am pleased to say that I got my first of two Pfizer shots today.  The Hilo Medical Center gave 4,000 vaccinations in a single day in a local arena, and it was a marvel of organizational excellence.  You'd have to live in Hawaii to know how unusual that was.  This place isn't known for crisp professionalism or efficiency, but we got it today.
To all of you dear viewers, please get vaccinated when your turn comes!

  1. Congrats!

(Why do I get the feeling the guy in the photos it needed a cure for a burning issue?)

    1. LOL! I thought the same thing, and the nurse's grin might confirm it.

  4. Got both my Pfizers at UT School of Nursing here in San Antonio along with several thousand others - it was a marvel of organization beginning with university police escorting us to parking - I was in and out in less than an hour including 15 min post shot observation - an absolute marvel of organization and cooperation between 4 different units of the UT Medical complex!!

    1. We had the Hawaii National Guard helping the medical staff with marshaling the crowd, and they even signed folks up for the second shot while doing the 15 minute observation.

  5. Allocation of the vaccination here has been by front line workers in certain categories and then by age. I had my jab last Wednesday - three weeks after the government told me I was invited to book an appointment. The local doctor's surgery is usually an administrative disaster area but the RAF and Royal Navy were sent in - they separated the nattering receptionists, turned off the infernal pop music, operated a distanced one-way system, and the place ran like clockwork... An RAF doctor gave me mine, dressed in impeccably pressed fatigues - he was bright, on the ball and with it. If in doubt, call the cavalry!

I have had absolutely no side effects at all. I have not been abducted by aliens. I do not have nanoparticles in my water. I haven't even dreamed of Bill Gates. There isn't much chance of me turning into a lizard because I'm not a member of the Royal Family. Please, get your vaccination and make the world a safer place!

  6. I got my first shot at that same event in Hilo yesterday, and I was also amazed and pleased that it was so organized. No waiting in long lines; everything moved right along.

    And I love the photo.

  7. Got both my Pfizer's last month, because I'm front line/educator, outside my state because of the shitshow going on where I live. It's nice to have medical relatives who can cut through the B.S.

    1. The rules seem to be different among the various states, but somehow we have a far higher percentage of our population vaccinated than all but a few countries.

  8. I had my first AZ vaccine today, 17 March, with the second booked for 2 June. Organisation here in Kent, England was excellent and I spotted several people that I know. It felt a bit like a convention for “men of a certain age”.

    1. It must have been hard to recognize all of them masked.

  9. The expression on the guy to the lefts face make me wonder if he kissed it to make it feel better.

    1. Either that, or he's getting a devilish enjoyment out of the procedure.
