This composite of Atlas isn't an exact match, but I couldn't resist the lovely frontal view 
of the statue and the gorgeous derriere of John Gallagher in the Al Urban photo.

    2. Al Urban didn't use a lot of props, but he got this one right. And B.D., John Gallagher was one of Urban's favorite models for exactly the reason you stated.

  2. Very nice comparisons of classic works, even if the poses are not exactly the same ... The models in the photos are better 'equipped' than the statues for our greatest pleasure !!!

    1. Several people have commented on that, Albert, and it's true. The Classical artists thought "big ones" were not suitable for gods and heroes.
