Classic Recliners, and still not the furniture store
Today we look at some 19th Century photographic takes on the Classic reclining nude motif. This is by Eickmann, and I can't tell is he's playing a pipe, smoking a pipe, or drinking through a straw.
Despite the grainy, yellowed aura, I kinda like this pic. It does make you wonder just what he's doing with that tube in his mouth...could it be subtly symbolic of a sexual act?

ReplyDeletePossibly, but sometimes a pipe is just a pipe.
DeleteAnd sometimes it's not a pipe.
DeleteI was going for Treachery of Images.
That pipe looks as if it is lexible, possibly a rubber pipe. Perhaps it's a Victorian bong or hubble bubble pipe...
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know they made rubber pipes. Bubble pipes, yes.
DeleteI'd guess an opium pipe is being enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteYou may have solved the mystery.
