Phone sex in 1972?

This is Action Line from 1972, and it conveniently provides phone numbers right on the cover.
By that time, some magazine covers actually showed porn, but those would be discretely
wrapped in paper or plastic until the buyer got them home . . . or into the car.

  1. That's Jim Cassidy. He had quite a history back in the day. One of the early stars who did some gay films. I should do a post on him.

  2. Those are California area codes, specifically L.A. andS.F. I doubt that those were the model's actual phone numbers, rather an answering service's number. They, escorts/prostitutes, still had problems with police back then. So an answering service (before machines and texting) gave them an air of legitimacy as well as an extra layer of protection.

    1. California area codes used for pimping. Imagine that!

  3. Actually, I just ran across this mag - this guy is identified as Dan Roberts - while this cover pic resembles a slimmer younger Cassidy the half dozen other pics of him dont look like the Cassidy I know from other mags - what do you think?

    1. I will defer to others with more detailed knowledge than myself on these IDs. I think it may be worth noting, however, that it wasn't at all unusual for models to work under more than one name.
