Holiday Card

Hard as it may be to believe, this is a Christmas card said to symbolize the German POWs who were still being held after the end of World War I.  While symbolically powerful, the prison bars are a bit over the top seeing as how they were rarely, if ever, used in Allied prison camps.

Bars aside, why was he pictured naked on a Christmas card? And who was holding those POWs?

The French and British held some German soldiers for several months after World War I ended. I think they were used as labor and bargaining chips. I have no idea why someone would depict a prisoner nude on a holiday card.
