John I
I have a date, 1946, for this Al Urban photo of a very well built John Farbotnik.
Fake tans at that point in time were cumbersome makeup products. I'm not saying that they didn't use makeup here, but there were popular tanning areas (often rooftop) at all-male gyms and swim clubs around NYC where he could have got an all over tan. And yes, there are faint tan lines.
wow, his expression is really good, the result is great! I'm jealous of his muscled body and he's bushed and packed down there too, is this about pole thrower athletes?
The staff is one of the most commonly used props in physique photography, but I'm not always sure what its meaning might be. Athletics is definitely one possibility.
Was that a spray-on tan? He doesn't have much in the tan lines department, does he?
