No. 2230
Item number 2230 is one of my personal favorites by Samuelson. Maybe it's the shading.
This is interesting about the shading. There is the obvious in the wonderfulness of the Grand Curvature, but spots of shading all over the body really sculpts it nicely. That, and the shading is simply a few squiggles thoughtfully place.
Samuelson has signed his name backwards, a sign of an artistic mind, or the sketch is reversed. Either way, it is a well-done sketch of a willing model in a vulnerable pose. :)
He signed his sketches and paintings as Pete, Samuelson, Pierre and Retep. Some sketch artists are known to scribble their names within the drawing itself, so you have to keep your eyes peeled.:)
A little peekaboo...nicely done.

ReplyDeleteYou are so spot on with describing the shading. Sometimes less is is more, and sometimes less is better.

Thanks for pointing this out. These days, it's not always easy to know if something has been flipped or otherwise altered.

DeleteThis one looks like "Retep," so maybe the image wasn't altered after all.
