Men in Nature
Our theme for today is men in nature, and we start with Al Parker by an unknown photographer.
In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia On the trail of the lonesome pine In the pale moonshine our hearts entwine Where he carved his name and I carved mine Oh, Al, like the mountains I’m blue Like the pine I am lonesome for you In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia On the trail of the lonesome pine
After The Trail of the Lonesome Pine by Ballard MacDonald (1913)
The Blue Ridge Mountains are the eternal heartland of the Scots in American, so it's appropriate that a MacDonald wrote the original poem. My own family spent a century there before moving west to Texas.
Other than the obvious attributes of this photo, interesting that Al is leaning at the same angle as the trees. One of the elements that makes this photo work.
This is a new Al Parker photo for me and I really like it! Thanks for posting it!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome, James!
DeleteNew photo for me, also, and I thought I had seen everything Parker did. Great find.
