I found this publicity still from the 1968 movie Bullitt for sale on a vintage website and listed as by Ken Haak. Mr. Haak was well known as a fashion photographer, but I was not aware that he had done any movie related work. As was often the case at the time, the movie was in color, but the still was in black and white for easier newspaper publication. The picture is all over the internet, but no other source says it is by Ken haak. Can any one confirm the provenance?

ReplyDeleteAn iconic photo which nicely showcases his "co-star".
ReplyDeleteSteve McQueen tried to buy the "Bullitt" Car from the Man who bought it for about $3,600 a few years after the film. The Man refused to sale it. After the clutch went bad the Car was stored in a Barn in Kentucky hidden from the World for about 40 years. The Owner of the Bullitt Mustang never did repair the car before he died leaving it to his son. The Son got the Car driveable but did not restore it and decided to auction it off at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. I think it got a record breaking price of 3.5 million.
