Dale Curry was a popular model whose career extended from the late 1940s into the early 1960s. He appeared in a Dick Falcon photo for MANual magazine and also in an ad, but I can find no more photos of him attributed to Mr. Falcon. The ad promised at least six. Anybody have more?
I am not familiar with many of the magazines, but this is the first time I have heard of this since around 1962. I was quite the churchgoer then and a teacher mentioned this magazine in Sunday school class! I finally saw one today!
ReplyDeleteIn Sunday school? Now that had to be interesting.
DeleteThese photos are apparently early, one set uses the pseudonym of Bob Star. Notice how his arms, chest, and legs are smooth? And his almost total lack of tattoos except for one? Before he became the well known married truck driver and prolific nude model?
ReplyDeletePeople go through changes in long careers, so I guess this guy is no different. Thanks for the details.
DeleteThe very popular Dale Curry, that photoset for 3 dollars would be 35 dollars today !
ReplyDeleteMANual was a publication by H.L. Womack the publisher/enfant terrible of DC of his time. (He also published Fizeek, Trim, Vim and Grecian Guild)
The establishment in DC were beside themselves over his publications and the fact they came out of the nation’s capital. Womack’s legal battles eventually led to greater freedoms for gay and other adult materials in the United States.
Rex in DC
One of my favourites, he had a very classy look about him.
