Nude Youth
1915 was a very productive year for Koloman Moser with Nude Youth Standing Between Rocks
being one of the more memorable works. I took the photo above during my 2023 visit
to the Belvedere in Vienna. The version below is a museum scan.
You make a good point. I was using my Pixel 8 phone camera which has high resolution. My guess is that some of the museums made their scans at a date when the tech was not nearly as advanced. Why they haven't bothered to update is beyond me, especially given that just about any of their employees would have a phone with a camera capable of doing better.

I too have been to both the Belvedere & the Albertina, both wonderful galleries. For works of this era mention must also be made of the quite wonderful Neue Gallery in NYC. Beautiful gallery in a beautiful town house.

Your photo is much higher quality than the museum scan, which makes you wonder whether their "scans" of other artworks are as bad – and why.
