This 1959 photo of George O'Mara is unique in two ways. The use of the mirror is clever, and it is autographed (with date) by the photographer.

Really an amazing photo ! Thanks for posting it Jerry . Jean .
ReplyDeleteNo problem, Jean. I knew it was a type you would appreciate.
DeleteWow..never seen George like that before. Superb detail. That torso, the line of his profile and jaw..and that partly exposed head with thick curly natural bush. A magnificent man..
ReplyDeleteYes, the photo is really superb. I can't believe it took me this long to get around to posting it.
DeleteThank you for posting it..Like many, I'm a fan of George.
DeleteWow! What a great photograph. It sort of transcends the typical male physique genre and has a bit of the avant garde about it with that mirror. Reminds me of some of the work of George Platt Lynes. And speaking of George! What a beautiful man this model is. I love the tan line across his thigh. (Among other things...)
ReplyDeleteYour comparison to Lynes is quite observant and appropriate. It is only remotely possible that Renslow was inspired by Lynes, though. Lynes' male nude work was not known to be available outside the Kinsey Institute when Renslow made this photo. Then again, Renslow was a resourceful and persistent guy, so who knows?
